Thermal Therapy is a time tested approach for the treatment of pain and swelling. We offer a variety of products to allow oral and craniofacial patients to effectively apply heat and cold therapies to their face and jaw. The most extensive is the cold-compression cooler for patients recovering for jaw, joint, orthognathic, or reconstructive surgery. The Cold-compression system uses the JawBra compressive wrap to help reduce swelling, while the cooler pumps cold or hot water through pads in the wrap to further moderate swelling and to reduce pain.
Other thermal thearpy products include:
The JawBra Compressive Wrap and Gel Packs
The CMR compressive wrap is uniquely designed to fit any patient. This wrap is not a cheap ice pack holder, but includes:
*Double layered elastic to provide broad compression for reduced swelling and firm tissues.
*Split velcro straps to cradle the head and stay in place.
*Soft, washable fabric for long-term use.
* 4 Hot/cold gel packs can be easily heated or chilled to reduced swelling and treat pain.
Sample Protocols
Under the direction of a medical professional, apply ice of heat for 30-minutes then take a break or switch to the opposite. Make sure to place a towel or other barrier between the ice/heat pack and your skin to prevent freezing or burning.
Insurance
Theramal therapy primarily provides enhanced comfort for patients following surgery and is rarely covered by insurance. We provide short-term rentals of the Cold-Compression system to make this treatment affordable.
